I personally don't think I am contributing in bringing this change as such :), but I do believe that this world can definitely be a better place...

I feel we, as humans, have pretty much screwed up our existence with our current social system that we built over time. It might be almost impossible for me to define an ideal world, but even if I manage to imagine it, I know it is impossible to make one. If I could simulate human evolution, I know there might be countless possibilities of us ending up in a better world than we currently are. These days I think more on impact of society on human evolution... and the impact of this evolution in making this world a better place... Looking at the current trend, I wonder how things will change in 100 yrs down the road... who knows!

Random thoughts...

Not that long ago, I made my resolutions for the rest of this yr. I guess it was already like the 5th time this year that I have made the same resolutions. I Know I might never consistently follow them, but at least it makes me feel better that I am trying.

From experience, I know I can never do things in a timely fashion. Most time, I am happy doing what I feel like doing. Some times I am forced to like what I am doing (like work stuff) and rest of the times you will find me being lazy. Sad it is! that I admit my laziness. For a second, I was thinking what I would have done if I were not lazy. I would have woke up early in the morning at 5 or 6, read news, work out little bit, get ready, prepare my breakfast, and go to work. I would probably work harder and be more proactive. Once I am back home from work, I would work out again, prepare and have early dinner, log my calories, read some book, and go to bed early so that I can wake up early next day... wow! Now that is serious stuff. My lazy mind analyzed that, "being lazy is not that bad choice after all"... lol :)

Certainly, a poor life this is...

My all time favorite poem: I have read it yesterday, I can feel it today, and I am hoping that I can change it for tomorrow...

"What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this is if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare."

W.H. Weekend adventure...

"The river is flowing five times faster than normal speed", said one of the store workers. It was a hot sunny day when we decided to rent kayaks and sail down the verde river. Fortunately or Unfortunately, it rained heavy the day before. My friends were pretty excited and were getting ready with swim shorts, sun glasses, sun screen, and backpacks with snacks and lots of water. It was funny because none of us knew how to swim but we were all wearing swim shorts. I laughed to myself and decided to jump in with the crowd as I didn't want to be the "spoil-sport".

I had tonnes of questions as it was not a guided tour and I was told that we are all by ourselves for 5 miles down the river. Doesnt matter how hard I tried to hide my fear, it seemed apparant the way I was being restless. My heart was pounding hard and I had to breathe harder to keep going. I secured my backpack to the rear end of the boat and tried to paddle with confidence.

Couple yards down the river, there was a huge branch hanging low over the river. I warned my friends and guided them to paddle away from the branch, which they all managed to do except for me... I had no clue how to deal with the hanging branch that I hit the branch and fell into the river. Those few seconds before I fell in the river, I wonder what I was thinking. My friends say I had the funniest expression of the year! For me, it seemed like a death invitation.

Thanks to my life jacket and to my other friends who guided me and helped me reach my boat. I some how managed to hold on to the boat and float towards the river bank where I readjusted my boat and hopped in for another fun ride. Now, I call that an adventure! :)

Will I do it again? I guess I will but with lot more caution :) May be I will learn how to swim by then!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://wtalife.blogspot.com/2009/05/river-floats-weekend-adventure.html' title='River Floats... We decided to have a quick lunch at the subway nearby. As soon as we got into my car, jeff started playing some music from my compact flash. He asked me where I usually buy my songs. I told him that I copy them from my friends. Not liking my answer, he told me how it is not ethical and illegal to copy songs.

I could not disagree with him and immediately I tried to defend myself and wash my guilt. I thought I will give him an anology to justify what I did was acceptable. Not able to think of an explanation, I politely agreed with what he said and asked him a question. I asked him how ethical he thinks it is to kill animals for their meat? He didnot have an answer for my question either. I bet he felt equally bad... We pinned our discussions to moral values and agreed that we were not nice pple after all... :)

Have you guys ever wondered where you stand in terms of ethics and moral values?

Recession - good for few...

Last week, I was reading an article in Forbes magazine titled, "Top 10 thins to-do in 2009". Ironically, according to Forbes, it is the best time to think big and start spending. House, Car, vacation, and electronic goods topped the list to buy/do this yr... :) I have been deal hunting for a long time now, and I agree when they say it is good time to buy stuff... With banks, airline industry, and other companies struggling to survive this recession, they are giving out best deals that they can possibly offer...

Is this an opportunity or a difficulty... that's where I draw a line between being smart, bein crazy, n bein stupid... it is up to you to decide what you are... good luck! :) I wish I was rich enough to take risk and not feel the loss if any... But you would never know because I might decide to take risk and spend crazy some day!... lol

"A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the oportunity in every difficulty."

Fund Raising Raffle

ride 4 a good cause...

Raised more than 2000$ funds for MS research...

tail wind always :)

life at fitness center...

After three years of seldom workout, I figured out that my $30/month fitness fees is going waste. It was fun to watch too... players running around to deceive the opponents on who is handling the ball, etc...

But the fun did not last long... slowly more people started showing up that we had a waiting list... some times I had to wait at least 2-3 games before they let me play... some of the teams got so aggressive that they got disappointed if you didn't play well... and if you are a new player, then forget about playing... they would make you feel terrible... some got scared, some got bored, while others stood patient to play their game. good or bad, I QUIT!

Lately, I started biking. and so far I am loving it...

out of the box...

I was never a serious blogger but have always tried to follow friends' blogs every now n then... Here's how it went:

"Well ya see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers."

WARNING: The consumption of alcohol may make you think you are whispering when you are not
